Trainee opportunities with long-term career prospects

Longevity of service among our staff is something that we are very proud of at Alex Picot Trust.
Among our senior team we boast an average of 25 years service.
Having a strong team, where we work well alongside each other definitely creates a stable and nurturing environment for new colleagues when they join us, especially our trainees.

Meet some of our team who chose to start their career with us.

Mollie

Mollie Luce, Accountant

After completing A Levels at Jersey College for Girls, Mollie came to the conclusion that she wished to pursue a career in accountancy and applied for a trainee position with us.

Mollie joined Alex Picot Trust as a trainee trust accountant in 2019 and is now studying towards the ACCA Qualification, the world leading accountancy qualification for aspiring financial professionals.

Everyone was really welcoming when I joined and I was surprised at how sociable it is working here.  As well as social club events getting to know my new colleagues I have also been on rib trips and bowling events as guests of other companies.  There is still a long road ahead to qualification but I feel really comfortable that I have made the right decision.

Sarah

Sarah McBrearty, Director

Sarah joined us as a temporary receptionist after completing her A Levels and we soon saw her potential.

Sarah’s original plan was to return to education to undertake a degree once her temporary receptionist role ended, however, she made the decision to pursue a career within trust and more importantly, she chose to move forward as a trainee with us.

IN October 2020, Sarah McBearty was promoted to Board Director of Alex Picot Trust.

Working as a receptionist was the perfect opportunity to get to know the company and I soon settled in at Alex Picot. I realised this was the type of place where I could feel comfortable developing my career and under the guidance of the directors and other senior members of the team, I started as a trainee trust officer and commenced my studies towards the ACCA accountancy qualification.

I quickly picked up the skills required to support our clients while putting in the hard work to gain professional qualifications. It is important to me that I continue to build my professional qualifications and I am grateful for the continued support of the directors.

Kerry

Kerry Carver, Finance Manager

Joining Alex Picot from school, Kerry took her first steps towards developing a career within accountancy.
After successfully completing the initial accountancy exams, she decided to explore the opportunities that existed within Jersey’s wider financial services industry.
Ten years later, in 2019, she came back through our doors to take up a new role as Finance Manager.

With professional qualifications under my belt and wide-reaching experience, I was ready to take up a new challenge and the role here offered real long-term prospects.
“Being back among familiar faces has been great and now that I have started my own family, the family-focused attitude of the directors here makes juggling work and home life, so much easier.

Annabel

Annabel Noel, Trust Manager

Annabel joined us after completing her A Levels locally and has become a steady-hand for the day-to-day needs of our clients.
As soon as she joined us, Annabel commenced her studies and has now reached Level 5 of the ICSA International Diploma.
Part of her development here sees her move to a different team where she will take on additional clients to her existing portfolio.

Working at Alex Picot Trust has given me the opportunity to get to grips with trust administration while studying towards my professional qualifications. I already look after some interesting clients and am looking forward to gaining additional responsibilities as I move to support a new team. Working here has helped me to shape a future career path for me and I have benefited hugely from the inclusive culture here.
